My favorite part of my role as a Relationship Manager is working alongside our clients, always advocating and helping them have the best user experience possible. As a problem solver at heart, I am the person who can really get behind them and push for answers when the need arises.
What brought me here
My career in client services began as a teenager, working in a small local dress shop that had long been a staple on the main street of the small town where I grew up. This shop catered to its clientele, while struggling to compete with the bigger department stores where you could go and buy more, for less. Working for this small business taught me the importance of fostering client relationships by making people feel valuable, seen and heard.
These same core service values went to work with me next as a Client Service Representative at a local bank before settling into the Real Estate Industry. I spent 12 years in Real Estate and really found my niche in the process of recruiting and on-boarding new Real Estate Agents. These agents had just completed a rigorous, yet boring, training program in order to earn their professional license. Now it was my turn to introduce them to the fun and profitable side of the business - how to build their client base and most importantly build their reputation.
A Real Estate Agent is essentially an advocate, who is entrusted with one of the most significant life experiences a person will ever have - buying or selling a home. My goal was to shape well-rounded Agents who could apply the skills they gained in school while proving to be successful with knowledge, passion, honesty and integrity. These are the four essential elements I have retained and transitioned into my current role. Healthy relationships with your client base are the cornerstone of any successful business. The secret ingredient to making clients happy is CPG – candor, passion and goodwill. I believe in applying this CPG in every aspect of my role with AdvisorEngine.
How I balance life
I begin my day by saying two words - thank you. I thrive best when I make gratitude my first emotional focus of the day. I typically say these words, sitting in my garden each morning, accompanied by my dog and morning coffee. I enjoy listening to the birds and watching the squirrels play – really focusing on this gentle bubble before diving into the workday. Beyond that, I love to garden, read a good book or spend time surrounded by friends. I venture out as often as possible on solo, long distance road trips - listening to music and singing unabashedly loud and off-key along the way.
My favorite quote
“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you; pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
What I want to know most in life
I believe all ideas are conceived in inspiration – but I am left wondering what inspired certain things; like the pyramids, or eating a raw oyster, or how did zero become a number? So many questions out there, left unanswered.
Who inspires a sense of adventure in me
As a bookworm by nature, my sense of adventure is inspired by the memoirs of several notable women like Karen Blixen “Out of Africa”, Elizabeth Gilbert “Eat, Pray, Love” as well as Cheryl Strayed “Wild.” Oh - I can’t forget about Harper Lee “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and “Go Set a Watchman.”
